The Internet

The Internet is very young compared to many of the other technologies that we use daily. It began with the launching of Sputnik and the U.S. becoming paranoid about not having a way to communicate in case of war with the Soviet Union. It then progressed from military use to being used by Universities and Colleges for research. That is why the first supercomputers connected to the Internet were mainly located at universities. The Interenet has also given us new ways to communicate with each other through e-mail, IM, and chat rooms. It is a great discovery and one that we should appreciate very much, but it is not the Internet that allows us to present information with graphics, sounds and video, that is the World Wide Web. What is the difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web?
